(I lost track in the new edition) teams each with 4ish units, each unit with 5 stats and an ability or two is much easier to playtest than the same number of factions with 30+units each, each with a ton of stats, abilites, etc. It’s also far less complex of a game system. Editions have changed things up but from 3rd on, the core rules as basically the same. It’s been basically the same game for over 20 years.
